A month into President Donald Trump's golden-age second term, his economic policy has become very clear: shrink the government, and turn the savings over to taxpayers. Two points stand out. First, there's a DOGE dividend in the cards, perhaps $5,000 per head from $2 trillion worth of savings as Elon Musk and company blow up all the waste, fraud, abuse, and corruption endemic to the DC swamp. And second, Mr. Trump wants his tax cuts. And he wants them now. And no Republicans in the Senate or House should stand in the way of these Trumpian priorities.

American-Israeli hostage only found out he was a new dad after 498 days in Hamas captivity

American-Israeli hostage Sagui Dekel-Chen spent “the vast majority” of his almost 500 days in captivity not knowing that his family had survived Hamas’ Oct. 7 terrorist attack or that his wife had given birth to their third child while he was held in Gaza, his father told NBC News. The 36-year old was released from Hamas captivity Saturday along with two other hostages in exchange for 369 Palestinian prisoners and detainees. He is the second U.S. citizen after Keith Siegel, 65, to be freed in phase one of the ceasefire and hostage release deal.

A man in Wayne County, Michigan won over a million dollars in the lottery after playing the same numbers year after year — and said he now plans on taking an "extended family vacation." The man, 54, who did not reveal his identity, told the Michigan Lottery that his $1.3 million jackpot win was a "dream come true." His winning ticket was drawn on Jan. 8.

Ancient tomb of Pharaoh Thutmose II unearthed by archaeologists in Egypt

In a joint Egyptian-British mission, archaeologists have discovered the long-lost tomb of King Thutmose II. The ancient tomb was found during research work two miles west of the Valley of the Kings near the West Bank of the Nile River. The Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities announced the discovery on Tuesday on Facebook.The group said it is the first royal tomb discovery since the unveiling of King Tutankhamen’s Tomb in 1922. The entrance and main corridor of the tomb was discovered in Oct. 2022 and was first believed to belong to the royal wives of the Thutmosid kings, according to the post."This assumption was based on its proximity to the tombs of King Thutmose III’s wives and Queen Hatshepsut’s tomb, which she had originally prepared as a royal consort before ascending the throne as pharaoh," said the post. Along with the tomb were other artifacts confirming the tomb's ownership.

King Thutmose II of the 18th dynasty, who reigned during the 15th century B.C., was the husband of one of ancient Egypt’s greatest pharaohs, Queen Hatshepsut, who ruled over an era of prolific building and expanding trade routes.
