Best actress contenders arguably get more of the Oscar spotlight, but the supporting actress category at the Academy Awards always gives us scene-stealing winners that pop off the screen in amazing ways. Sometimes it’s a mother who’s nowhere near maternal, like in Mo’Nique in “Precious” or Allison Janney in “I, Tonya.” Other times it’s the showstopping highlight of a movie musical – for example, Jennifer Hudson making “Dreamgirls” her own or Catherine Zeta-Jones killing showtunes in “Chicago.” And the category has also introduced new talent to filmgoers, from Lupita Nyong’o in “12 Years a Slave" to Alicia Vikander in “The Danish Girl." With a new woman joining their ranks when the 97th Academy Awards air live on Sunday (ABC and Hulu, 7 p.m. ET/4 PT), we’re ranking every best supporting actress of the past 25 years.
The “new Nordic cuisine” movement has put Scandinavian flavors on the menu internationally and sparked interest not just in innovative culinary creations but also their provenance. Much like the classic smörgåsbord, Sweden’s gastronomy is wide-ranging, reflecting its large north-to-south expanse and four distinct seasons. While centered around local produce, many dishes have international influences thanks to the country’s long history as a trading nation.
Nearly five months after the death of "American Pickers" star Frank Fritz, his biological father is contesting his will. William Fritz, who lives in Texas, filed a petition earlier this month to set aside son Frank Fritz's last testament and have a jury determine what should be done with his son's estate. The probate case, including the will, has been sealed by an Iowa judge, meaning details of Fritz's assets haven't been made public. But some estimates value his estate at nearly $6 million. Frank Fritz of American Pickers attends the A+E Networks 2012 Upfront at Lincoln Center on May 9, 2012, in New York City. Defendants in the case, some of Fritz's closest companions and caretakers, have retained lawyers "to protect his last wishes," a close friend to Frank told the Des Moines Register.
High-top sneakers, baggy jeans, a fitted cap — everyone has their fashion favorites. And for Florence Pugh, sheer is her faithful go-to. The British actress stole the show at London Fashion Week on Thursday in an all-black gauzy frock, which she wore to the opening of Harris Reed's autumn/winter show. Pugh, who walked the runway for the British American designer's eponymous label, rocked the gothic look, which amounted to the high fashion equivalent of Elvira, Mistress of the Dark. The dress's tight-fitting, sheer base was overlaid by a tastefully gaudy bodice and a chic hood that framed Pugh's face.
Kim Kardashian is being sued over an Instagram mix-up. The case, filed Thursday in Los Angeles Superior Court, hinges on a February 2024 Instagram Story post in which the criminal justice reform advocate — attempting to raise awareness about Ivan Cantu, a Texas man on death row — posted a photo of the wrong person. While there was an Ivan Cantu awaiting execution in Texas, the photo used by Kardashian in her post was actually of another Ivan Cantu, who lives in New York. Pointing out that at the time Kardashian had over 350 million followers on the platform (she now has 357 million), the suit alleges Cantu suffered severe emotional distress and embarrassment.

The International Air Transport Authority estimated that the airline industry lost $1.7 billion in revenue due to the disruption.
