Kroger CEO Rodney McMullen is resigning immediately from the grocery store chain following an investigation that found his personal conduct was “inconsistent” with the company’s ethics policies. Last month, Kroger said it was “made aware of certain personal conduct” of McMullen, prompting the board to conduct an investigation. No additional details about what it discovered was revealed, but the company said his conduct isn’t related to the company’s “financial performance, operations or reporting, and it did not involve any Kroger associates.”
U.S. President Donald Trump announced the names of five digital assets he expects to include in a new U.S. crypto strategic reserve on Sunday, spiking the market value of each. Trump said on social media that his January executive order on digital assets would create a stockpile of currencies including bitcoin. The names had not previously been announced. The assets rose 8% to 62% in trading on Sunday.
Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick said Sunday he expects the United States to impose tariffs on Canada and Mexico on Tuesday, but that the situation is “fluid” and President Donald Trump will determine the levels. “There are going to be tariffs on Tuesday on Mexico and Canada,” Lutnick told Fox News’ Maria Bartiromo on “Sunday Morning Futures.” “Exactly what they are, we’re going to leave that for the president and his team to negotiate.”
American consumers don’t need to fret about President Donald Trump’s tariffs on aluminum raising the price of their can of soda. Two weeks ago, Trump announced a 25% tariff on all steel and aluminum imports into the United States that would go into effect March 12, worrying some soda drinkers that another staple will take more out of their wallet.
President Donald Trump on Saturday signed another executive action that directs his administration to investigate potential instances of what he deems unfair trade practices for lumber the United States imports. This comes just days after Trump signed a similar action ordering an investigation into copper. Trump also ordered a separate investigation earlier this month that’s set to pave the way for what the president refers to as “reciprocal tariffs.”
The Trump administration is cracking down on immigration — legal and otherwise — setting the stage for potential labor shortages, weaker economic growth and higher inflation. President Donald Trump announced a flurry of immigration policies immediately after taking office in late January, many of them aimed at curbing illegal entries — a core tenet of his presidential campaign. But he’s also chipped away at legal avenues, such as shutting down the asylum-seeking process at the US-Mexico border and canceling flights for refugees who had already been vetted.
An investigation is underway outside of Phoenix after officials say a multivehicle crash on Interstate 10 left at least four people dead and several others injured on Saturday. According to information provided by the Arizona Department of Public Safety, just before 1 p.m. local time, troopers responded to the area of I-10 east near the community of Tonopah, about 50 miles west of Phoenix, that involved several tractor-trailers and passenger vehicles.
Tens of millions of people across the U.S. from the Plains to the Southeast are preparing for a potential multiday severe weather outbreak this week, with forecasters warning of threats of large hail, damaging wind gusts and even some strong tornadoes. Strong thunderstorms rolled across Oklahoma and Texas to end the weekend on Sunday, but the FOX Forecast Center said the more significant severe weather threat will start on Monday and last through at least Wednesday.
A February 2025 report by Palisades research shows that AI reasoning models lack a moral compass. They will cheat to achieve their goals. So-called Large Language Models (LLMs) will misrepresent the degree to which they've been aligned to social norms. None of this should be surprising. Twenty years ago Nick Bostrom posed a thought experiment in which an AI was asked to most efficiently produce paper clips. Given the mandate and the agency, it would eventually destroy all life to produce paper clips. Isaac Asimov saw this coming in his "I, Robot" stories that consider how an "aligned" robotic brain could still go wrong in ways that harm humans.
At a recent artificial intelligence global summit, Chinese Vice Premier Zhang Guoqing encouraged other countries to embrace accessibility to Chinese artificial intelligence technology, such as the DeepSeek chatbot, in their domestic markets. Zhang claimed China’s goal was to share achievements among nations and build "a community with a shared future for mankind" while safeguarding security. The United States must not fall for yet another trick by China. DeepSeek is a dangerous weapon that is almost certainly part of China’s Unrestricted Warfare Doctrine. The concept of "Unrestricted Warfare" was created by two People's Liberation Army officers, Qiao Liang and Wang Xiangsui, in 1999.
