German club soccer player Luca Meixner dead at 22

Luca Meixner, a soccer player who played in Germany for SSV Reutlingen 05, has died, the club announced on Saturday. He was 22. The club issued a statement on its Instagram account. The club said Meixner died "unexpectedly."

Lucid reports record quarterly vehicle deliveries, meets production target

Lucid Group on Monday reported record quarterly vehicle deliveries for the fourth quarter and confirmed production of more than 9,000 vehicles in 2024 — meeting a previously announced target. The electric vehicle manufacturer reported production of 9,029 units and deliveries of 10,241 cars in 2024. That included production of 3,386 units and delivery of 3,099 vehicles during the fourth quarter, the company said.

Warring sides battle inside Russia as Moscow reports gains in Ukraine

Russia said on Monday its forces had made important gains in eastern Ukraine while continuing to fend off a new Ukrainian offensive inside the Kursk region of western Russia, where a second day of fierce fighting was under way. The Russian defense ministry said its forces had captured the town of Kurakhove, 20 miles south of Pokrovsk, a Ukrainian logistics hub toward which Russian forces have been advancing for months.

Liza Jane Likins had no idea that a simple update to her social media profile following the death of her husband of 23 years would change her life forever. Likins, a backup singer who toured with Fleetwood Mac and Linda Ronstadt, fell victim to a Nigerian online romance scammer and was conned out of more than $1 million in cash and crypto funds. Over the course of two years, Likins became involved with a "very complicated scam" by a man who claimed to be an Australian gold miner and who wooed her over the Internet with stolen photos of a German life coach.

DHL Supply Chain deploys Volvo autonomous trucks in Texas

DHL Supply Chain has launched autonomous transportation services along two routes in Texas through a partnership with Volvo Autonomous Solutions, according to a December press release. The company is now hauling freight along the Dallas to Houston and Fort Worth to El Paso lanes using the Volvo VNL Autonomous. Trucks in the fleet are integrated with the Aurora Driver self-driving system. While DHL Supply Chain provides services in all sectors, this Texas launch is focused on retail freight, Jason Gillespie, senior director of continuous improvement and innovation, told Supply Chain Dive in an email.

Three Israelis killed in West Bank shooting; army pursuing suspects

Three Israelis were killed on Monday and several injured in a shooting attack on a car and bus near the town of Kedumim in the Israeli-occupied West Bank, Israel’s national ambulance service Magen David Adom (MDA) said. Israeli Army Radio said the military had imposed a cordon around all villages in the area to search for the suspects, who it believes fled to a nearby Palestinian village. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed to bring the perpetrators and anyone who aided them to justice.

Major winter storm threatens much of the U.S. with intense cold, snow and ice

Tens of millions of people were bracing Sunday for a massive winter storm forecast to bring the heaviest snowfall and coldest temperatures in over a decade to parts of the country. Kansas, Arkansas, Kentucky and Virginia declared states of emergency as the storm, driven by a polar vortex, moved east after it struck the central United States. Southern states like Mississippi and Florida also warned of dangerous cold and treacherous conditions, according to the National Weather Service.
