Raymond Arroyo explains why the Oscars are growing disconnected from audiences when they ignore popular films.
"One day you’re gonna see my mugshot/From a night when I got a little too drunk," he sang in a sample of his new track. "Hear a song about a girl I lost/From the times that I just wouldn’t grow up/And when you ain’t a kid no more/I hope you don’t think less of me/I try to hide my falling short/But you’re gonna see." Wallen continued to address his struggles with alcohol as he compared "that bottle" in his lyrics to Superman’s kryptonite, which "Brings a man of steel down to his knees."
Kelsea Ballerini has moved on from her relationship with her ex-husband Morgan Evans, and she wants her fans to do the same. Last Friday, the 31-year-old country star stopped her concert at the Hard Rock Live in Hollywood, Florida, to chastise fans who were yelling obscenities about the 39-year-old Australian singer. In a video shared on TikTok, Ballerini was seen performing her song "Penthouse," which is widely believed to be about her relationship with Evans, whom she divorced in 2022 after five years of marriage.
Ryan Reynolds was allegedly difficult on the set of one of his earlier films, according to his one-time co-star Matthew Lawrence. On his "Brotherly Love Podcast," Lawrence shared his recollection of working with Reynolds on the film, "Boltneck," released in 2000. "The production team was having a really hard time with Ryan," Lawrence said, emphasizing that "this was young Ryan." Lawrence noted he had somewhat more experience on sets than Reynolds, having been a child actor, and Reynolds wasn’t "dialed in."
The "Jane the Virgin" star's lawyers pointed to a number of examples they claim show Lively chose to publicize the allegations. According to Baldoni's legal team, Lively provided "the otherwise confidential administrative complaint" filed with the California Civil Rights Department. They also accused Lively's PR team of making "bold statements" to the media in order to "rehabilitate her tarnished image" and pointed to Ryan Reynolds' "planned skit" for "SNL50" that referenced the "It Ends With Us" legal battle as evidence. Baldoni's team emphasized their approval of the court's model protective order, but noted having an "attorneys' eyes only" (AEO) designation for discovery was "not warranted."
After reflecting on her recent heated exchange with former "Boy Meets World" co-star Danielle Fishel, Maitland Ward has some thoughts. In an exclusive interview with Fox News Digital, Ward - who portrayed Rachel McQuire in the later seasons of the beloved '90s TV show - opened up about the "very toxic" situation she found herself in while appearing on the "Pod Meets World" podcast on Monday.
Joy Reid is leaving MSNBC, the network’s new president announced in a memo to staff on Monday, marking an end to the prime time show hosted by the progressive political analyst and broadcast news anchor. Reid’s namesake show, “The ReidOut,” has been a fixture of MSNBC’s evening programming since 2020. In the hourlong newscast, held on weeknights at 7 p.m. E.T., Reid conducts interviews with politicians and other newsmakers — diving into an extensive array of political issues and intersections between race, culture and social justice.
NBC’s veteran Lester Holt is stepping down as anchor of the network’s flagship “Nightly News” broadcast in the coming months. Holt, who has been the face of “Nightly News” for a decade, won’t be leaving NBC altogether, however. In a memo to staff Monday, he said he would be expanding his work on NBC’s “Dateline,” taking on a full-time role. The transition is expected to take place early this summer. No firm date or successor for “NBC Nightly News” has been named yet.
In an era where popular music is fluid, it is easy to forget the listening world was not always so open. Unless, of course, Roberta Flack’s career is closely examined. Flack, whose intimate vocal and musical style made her one of the top recording artists of the 1970s and an influential performer long after, died Monday. She leaves behind a rich repertoire of music that avoids categorization. Her debut, “First Take,” wove soul, jazz, flamenco, gospel and folk into one revelatory package, prescient in its form and measured in its approach.
Best actress contenders arguably get more of the Oscar spotlight, but the supporting actress category at the Academy Awards always gives us scene-stealing winners that pop off the screen in amazing ways. Sometimes it’s a mother who’s nowhere near maternal, like in Mo’Nique in “Precious” or Allison Janney in “I, Tonya.” Other times it’s the showstopping highlight of a movie musical – for example, Jennifer Hudson making “Dreamgirls” her own or Catherine Zeta-Jones killing showtunes in “Chicago.” And the category has also introduced new talent to filmgoers, from Lupita Nyong’o in “12 Years a Slave" to Alicia Vikander in “The Danish Girl." With a new woman joining their ranks when the 97th Academy Awards air live on Sunday (ABC and Hulu, 7 p.m. ET/4 PT), we’re ranking every best supporting actress of the past 25 years.
