Simon, who retired from touring in 2018, released his most recent album, the acoustic "Seven Psalms," in 2023.

The news was confirmed in a New York Times obituary, which said Rose died "peacefully at home" on Saturday from Parkinson's complications after "many years of extraordinary strength and resilience." A representative for Bergen confirmed Rose's death in an email to USA TODAY on Tuesday.

Wahlberg, 55, will reprise his role while taking a position with the Boston Police Department, where he will be paired with Det. Lena Peters, the eldest daughter of a prominent law enforcement family, according to CBS. No casting information on Peters was disclosed by CBS, which said the first "Blue Bloods" spinoff series will arrive this fall.
